2023-2024 Hammond Suzuki studio General Policies

The studio year begins on September 1, 2024 and concludes on June 30, 2025. The year includes 36 private lessons and 22 group events including group class, solo recitals, group class recital and special events. In June, there are 2 weeks allotted for make up lessons. 

Studio registration is for the full year program. Studio fees will be prorated for students entering the program during the year. The registration process is completed through an online form. Complete studio information and documents will be available through the registration portal. 

The studio registration fee is $80 (one child) and $100 (two+ children). The registration fee is $100 for all new students. The registration fee is due at the time of registration. Fees will be accepted by e-transfer or cheque, payable to Debbie Hammond. The studio registration fee is non-refundable.

All studio fees are payable by e-transfer to hammondsuzukistudio@gmail.com or by post-dated cheque series, payable to Debbie Hammond. 

Studio Fees are comprehensive, including program fees and lesson fees.

There are 3 payment plan options:

Option 1: Full payment of studio fees, due September 1, 2024

Option 2: Two Instalments studio fees, 

                         due September 1, 2024 & January 10, 2025

Option 3: Five Instalments studio fees, 

                         due September 1, 2024, November 1, 2024, 

                         January 10, 2025, March 1, 2025, May 1, 2025

The studio calendar follows the rhythm of the OCSB & OCDSB school year. There will be no lessons or group classes during the Christmas Break- December 22, 2024 through January 5, 2025 inclusive. There will be no lessons during March Break- March 8, 2025 through March 16, 2025 inclusive. There will be no group classes on long weekends with Holiday Mondays- Thanksgiving (Oct 12), Family Day (Feb 15), Easter (April 19), Victoria Day (May 18). Please see the studio calendar for complete schedule and event dates. 

If you have requested a Monday lesson time, be advised that there are 4 holiday Mondays throughout the studio year. You will be offered the option of rescheduling 2 holiday Monday lessons during the year. The studio policies for student-cancelled and teacher-cancelled lessons apply to all other lessons.  

I will confirm the lesson schedule with all students/families one week prior to the holiday. Once the lesson has been confirmed, the studio policies for student-cancelled and teacher-cancelled lessons apply. 

No makeup lessons will be offered for any student-cancelled lessons. If your child is ill or needs to be away for any reason, please notify me by email or phone call as soon as you are able. If your child is ill, but well enough to have a lesson, you may request an online lesson. Please remember your lesson time is reserved for you and your child weekly. 

Makeup lessons will be scheduled for all teacher-cancelled lessons. Should I need to cancel lessons, I will notify students and parents by email. I will provide as much notice as possible. Makeup lessons will be scheduled outside the regular studio schedule (i.e. - designated makeup lesson days). If makeup days are not possible during the regular year, any outstanding lessons will be scheduled during designated makeup lesson weeks in June, following the end of the scheduled year. 

There will be 2 weeks at the end of the lesson year designated as Makeup Lesson Weeks. This is June 9-20, 2025. During these weeks, I will schedule all students owed lessons into their regular lesson time. Adjustments can be made to accommodate any special events that frequently occur in June.

In the case of bad weather (ice storms, heavy snowfalls, etc.), you may request an online lesson. Please use your best judgement in determining the safety of attending lessons in person. This is meant to be a safety-net measure to decrease student cancelled lessons.   

If you are unable to attend an in person lesson because your child does not meet the COVID self-screening criteria or your family has been asked to self- isolate or quarantine in accordance with public health guidelines, you may request an online lesson. The option for online lessons will always be available, however, if this option is a change to the planned lesson method, please contact me in advance to confirm your online lesson request.
